The beauty of Moore County lies in its people and their diverse stories. Many of the unique voices and perspectives that are found in this community are not being represented.
Ariadne has loved Moore County her entire life and values your stories.
Ariadne will be a commissioner that represents all the voices of Moore.
It is the responsibility of the Commission to accurately represent the needs of our entire county to our state government. As things are right now, this is not the case. We need commissioners that have vested interests in the sectors that they are elected to serve--children in the public school system, family members that struggle with healthcare, an earnings perspective that is far less removed from the average earned wage in Moore County.
Moore County needs commissioners that understand the intrinsic value in properly funding our public schools. Just as a house must have a strong foundation to stand, unscathed, through any weather, so must our young children. If we fail to provide the necessary tools and equipment while they are developing, how can we expect them to stand through all the storms of life? If we truly want to improve our unemployment rates, abolish the "school to jail pipeline," and improve the economic outlook for all of our citizens, we need to stop allowing our leadership to put policies in place that are tantamount to a band-aid. It is up to us to strengthen our foundation--the education of our future leaders--before our house collapses.
What is "affordable" has been determined and defined by those that can afford their choice of healthcare options for far too long! When you know what it is to work two or three jobs to keep your bills paid, you have a better understanding of the word "affordable" in all of its applications. Healthcare cannot just be painted with one broad stroke as "affordable." The question then becomes "Affordable to whom?" We need commissioners that will let our state government know that we need to expand Medicaid and bring those crucial funds back to our county. As we find ourselves still in the grips of the COVID-19 pandemic, our working poor, newly unemployed and those that were already existing on a fixed, low income are suffering at a disproportionate rate.
We must demand change--now, Moore than ever before!
